Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is the President's offer?

Answer: This promotion takes place in December, January and until mid-February each year. Runners who enter all 12 Events receive a gift from the Endurance Circuit. Also, if they register by mail, they will save all credit card fees. It's simple and safe! Contact us if you wish more details: info@circuitendurance.ca

QUESTION: What advice can you give a beginner?

ANSWER: Read the information on the website and race flyers before contacting the race director. Most of the information is probably available if you take time to read it. Be aware of registration deadlines, they are very important for race organizers!

Baby joggers are allowed unless stated on the website. We encourage these people to start at the back of the pack to limit the risk of accidents.

Pre-register if you can. It allows race volunteers to concentrate their time on other tasks on race day and will save you money. Fill out your form completely and legibly. On-line registration is encouraged. You will receive a confirmation when registering online and you should carry it with you on race day.

Carefully check the information on the envelope or behind the bib number when you pick-up your bib on race day. Any corrections should be made before the start of your race (age, sex, misspelling of your name).

Pin your number on the front of your shirt or outermost clothing and keep it visible at all times, and especially at the finish. Announcers, photographers, timers and medics use it to help identify you.

Do not run without a number, or if you did not register. Doing so can cause errors in the recording of times and positions of those legitimately entered.

Do not allow another runner to use your number. A person running in your place who is of a different sex or a different age group can lead to errors in the results, and deny legitimate winners their prizes. It may also lead to errors in our point system for the ranking in our season Championship. Also, in the event of an accident or medical condition, wrong information may have serious consequences.

The Endurance Circuit allows runners to change distances if they wish to do so, but we ask that you make the change official by telling volunteers at the registration table before your race to limit errors in results.

Position yourself appropriately at the start. If you are running slowly or walking, start at the back, so as not to obstruct faster participants.

Don’t block other runners at any time. At aid stations or water stations, move to the side if you slow down or stop. Be careful not to splash others at water stations or if you need to spit or blow your nose, for example.

The use of portables headphone devices (iPods, MP3, CD players) is discouraged for your safety and the safety of others. You should be aware of your surroundings at all times including being able to hear any verbal warnings/instructions from police/course officials and hear the sounds of any vehicle and other participants on the course. If you choose to wear a device during a race, you do so at your own risk and your own responsibility.

Do not stop right at the finish line. Keep moving through the finish area so that others can finish behind you. Exit the finish area as soon as possible, to reduce congestion in the area. Only cross the finish line once, especially if your timing device is behind your bib number (certain races). This can also be a cause for errors in the final rankings.

Be courteous to the volunteers. You have a race because of them. Most of our volunteers are there only for this one occasion, so they might not have the answers to all your questions. You can ask them to point out the race director or one of the regular volunteers on our Circuit should you need to. To fully appreciate the work behind a race, you can offer to help at other race if you are unable to race for any reason.

QUESTION: Where can I see my official result after the race?

ANSWER: In the afternoon of your race day, you can find your result on our website on the RESULTS page. The same results can also be found on the SPORTSTATS website. Sportstats has been our official timing company since 2007.

QUESTION: I can’t seem to find my result anywhere or there is a mistake in my result. What can I do about it?

ANSWER: For any result correction, you should contact Sportstats directly and they will solve the issue. If your name is not in the results, contact Sportstats. Here are some reasons why mistakes appear in official results: a) misspelling in your name or surname when the registration form is difficult to read; b) forgetting to tell race officials about a change of distance; c) mistake on the registration form: age, sex or reversal of name and surname.

Question: I don't find all the answers to my questions on your website and my race is coming soon. What can I do?

Answer: All race directors have their email on their webpage, on our website (see CALENDAR). Don't hesitate to email them and they will help you quickly. This can also help us put more information on our website to help other runners!

Question: Once I got home after the race, I found out I won a medal. How can I get it?

Answer: You should contact the race director (see CALENDAR for the race director's contact info). Usually, three options are offered: a) delivering the medal to your home; b) giving you the medal to the next Event in the calendar; c) mailing the medal to the address you provide us.

Question: Do you have medical teams on your race site?

Answer: Yes, according to the municipalities we deal with, we have an obligation to hire a first responder team or rescue team. Don't hesitate to ask a volunteer to point them out to you if you need help.

Question: Is there a time limit to complete our race?

Answer: All our races are offered to all runners, no matter your experience. We plan a time limit of 45 minutes for a 5k race and 75 minutes for a 10k race. We want all of our runners to complete their race in these time frames, for safety and logistics reasons.

We offer 3 Walks in the Season for those wishing to take more time and find security. However, we are a running Circuit. For respect to others and the safety of everyone, we hope everybody respects the time frame we allow for our 5k and longer races!

If you are not sure you can complete the 5k in under 45 minutes, you might want to consider registering for the 2k races to evaluate your abilities before jumping into the 5k.

Question: How can you explain the difference in reading on my GPS watch and your certified course?

Answer: A certified course is measured by two or more people on their bicycles with a JONES-OERTH counting device. Other instruments, including GPS watches, are not recognized by Athletics Canada as official measuring tools. For more informations about this topic, read our MEASURING AND CERTIFICATION section. For more specific explanations on GPS watches, read the following article:Click here for the article!

Question: Why are most of your courses done on 5k loops?

Answer: Most municipalities request that we limit our running area to the minimum so as not to disturb their residents too much.

It might seem "boring" to run 2 loops when this is the case, but we must recognize the security of the runners is a priority and easier to achieve on a 5k loop (number of volunteers required, security barricades, lower number of police force required, etc...). By respecting these guidelines and requirements, we hope that the municipalities renew our contract every year for our runners benefit!

Question: Is there an after race snack offered to runners?

Answer: Yes, all of our Events offer runners a post race snack. Each Event tries its best to find partners that will offer healthy food, trust us! But we acknowledge it is difficult to please 1000 people on the choice of food. Some people like a certain fruit, other don't! Some runners like a certain beverage, others don't! To make sure you don't go back home unhappy, you can always bring your own favourite post-race snack to complement ours!

Question: Why not have some pace runners (pace bunnies) at the starting lines to avoid beginners starting in front?

Answer: Although it might be efficient for Marathons to have pace bunnies, it would be difficult for 5k or 10k races to do the same because of the smaller groups. Time differences are smaller on 5k or 10k races...and that wouldn't prevent beginners from overrating their form and placing themselves poorly!

the same thing can be said for the children's races (1 km): everyone wants to start in front but NOT every kid run it in under 4 minutes!!! We trust parents to inform their kid about starting the faster runners in the front of the group...Even if we try to inform the kids just before the start, nobody moves back! Experienced runners can also try to inform their competitors about the negative effect of starting out too fast on a longer race...

Question: Why don't you have official Medal ceremonies anymore?

Answer: In the last few years, we decided to shorten the medals ceremony because nobody was there and podiums were empty! Runners were leaving before getting their medals...Most of our Events decided to give the Medals at the Medals Table. As soon as results are out, runners can pick their medal and go on with their other business for the day..

Question: When you use a timing mat at the start, why is the final ranking done according to the gun time?

Answer: For many reasons, we decided to follow the I.A.A.F. (International Amateur Athletic Federation) ruling on this subject. You can contact us if you wish to learn more about this topic.

Question: How long before my race start should I be there to pick up my bib number?

Answer: Each individual reacts differently to the stress before a race. We recommend being there at least one hour before your race. We usually open around 7:00-7:30 on race day. Leave yourself some time for parking your vehicle, getting yourself warmed up, looking at the course, asking your questions of our volunteers, etc...
